Pettigrew & Stephens Sale, 1933

Babywear and miscellaneous household accessories illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933.

The trend in babywear in the 1930s was towards loose, practical clothing such as romper suits, in contrast to the more restrictive clothing suffered by earlier generations.

Pearls were at their height of popularity in the early 'thirties. Sometimes they were sewn to dance frocks, or worn in original styles such as trailing from the shoulder, knotted at the neck, or over the right shoulder and under the arm.
