The Alhambra tried to appeal to a wide range of audiences by featuring well known Scottish and international artistes. In the late 1960's, however, the management adopted a controversial policy of putting English performers at the top of the bill on a regular basis, often at great expense. Well known names who appeared included Norman Wisdom (pictured), Bob Monkhouse, Bruce Forsyth, Mike Yarwood and Max Bygraves.
When the Alhambra finally closed in May 1969, the star of the final show was Cilla Black.
