John Neil

John Neil (b 1834) was a biscuit manufacturer and town councillor.

Born in Paisley, Neil became a biscuit manufacturer after moving to Glasgow as a young man. When he sold his business in 1873, it employed 140 people and maintained twenty-five delivery vans and thirty horses.

Neil served as a councillor from 1872 until 1893. He was a temperance campaigner and lived in Whitehill.
