Shawfield House, photographed in 1870 by Thomas Annan.
Daniel Campbell MP acquired Shawfield in 1707. Campbell was famous as the builder of the mansion in Trongate that became known as the Shawfield Mansion, and which was sacked by rioters protesting against the Malt Tax in 1725. The Shawfield estate was sold to John White (d 1860) of the chemical manufacturers John & James White.
