Union Court

W R Mainds' watercolour sketch of Union Court in Piggers' Close, 1891.

The narrow close connected High Street with Rottenrow. The higgledy-piggledy arrangemment of houses crowded together here is typical of the way in which city centre backcourts were often filled with new buildings.
