A Thomas Annan photograph of a portrait of Archibald Speirs of Elderslie (1758-1832). The painting was by Sir Henry Raeburn.
Speirs was the eldest son of Alexander Speirs of Elderslie, one of Glasgow's greatest Tobacco Lords. Alexander had acquired the Virginia mansion on Ingram Street in 1770 and Archibald may have lived there as a child.
