Joseph C Bolton (1819-1901) was a merchant and Member of Parliament.
Bolton spent his early business years in India. Returning to Glasgow he became a partner in the firm of Ker, Bolton & Co, East India merchants. Thanks to his ability and business acumen, the company prospered. He was elected chairman of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and appointed chairman of the Caledonian Railway Company.
A Liberal, Bolton failed to be elected an MP for Glasgow in 1874 but represented Stirlingshire from 1880 to 1892.
