Adam Paterson

Adam Paterson (1811-1881) was a solicitor and Dean of the Royal Faculty of Procurators, 1870-1875.

Paterson was born in Kinghorn in Fife the son of a minister, and apprenticed to a procurator there. He became a partner in the solicitors' firm Moncrieff, Paterson, Forbes & Barr, and was admitted to the Faculty Roll in 1840. He was also also an agent for the Conservative Party.

After the death of his first wife Paterson married Barbara, daughter of Sir James Lumsden. They lived at Springhall in Rutherglen. He is buried in the Necropolis.
