Pollok House

A watercolour showing Pollok House c 1830.

A woman stands in the foreground talking to a workman. Another labourer is wheeling a barrow to Pollok House in the distance. The Maxwell family coat of arms is shown at the top, centre. A scrap in the shape of a large hare has been pasted into the right hand corner.

This is one of a series of paintings by an unknown artist working for the Maxwell family. The paintings show buildings and views of the Pollok Estate as it was c 1830 and the collection is a valuable source of information about country estates at that time.
