Sports meeting at Scotstoun Showground, 1955.

The land was developed by the Glasgow Agricultural Society as a venue for for agricultural shows, but by 1907 it was also being used as a venue for sporting events and by 1915 the running track had been laid out with a grandstand (originally on the north side of the track). In 1993 a programme of development began to transform the facilities into a specialist sports training and competition venue. The new Scotstoun Leisure Complex contains Scotland's first indoor tennis centre, all-weather athletics and field event facilities and a rugby centre of excellence as well as community leisure facilities.

In 1955 Partick Camera Club set out to create a photographic survey of Glasgow. As the project progressed, other camera clubs joined and each was allocated a district of the city to photograph. Glasgow Museums exhibited the photographs at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and at the People's Place, and in 1956 the exhibition was shown at the Palace of Art in Bellahouston Park. The photographs are now part of Glasgow Museums' collections.
