The Honesty Mirror 1896, by Frances Macdonald (1874-1921).
The mirror is mounted on a surround made of beaten tin on a wooden frame. Two elongated women stand on either side of the mirror, which appears to hang from their outstretched arms. Honesty (a plant also known as hunaria which was popular at the time in flower arranging) grows around the women. Macdonald and other Glasgow Style artists often used these strange elongated human figures in their art, prompting critics to nickname them the "Spook School."
