The photograph shows a woman sitting in a garden preparing vegetables for a meal. She has a bowl of water and an iron cooking pot at her feet, as well as a wicker basket, a cabbage and other vegetables.
Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documents aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s.
