A horse and cart being loaded with hay, photographed by Duncan Brown c 1880s or 1890s, perhaps near Queen's Park. A woman holds the horse's head while a man with a pitchfork passes hay up to the man on the hay cart.
Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documents aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s. He photographed many rural scenes on the outskirts of Glasgow, in areas that were to become busy suburbs of the city.
