A table showing the age of death of 1,130 children under the age of seven buried by Glasgow Corporation between June 1901 and May 1906.
The Corporation Sanitary Department was responsible for burying all unclaimed bodies and those whose families were too poor to afford a funeral. Common ground was put aside at the cemeteries at Sighthill and Riddrie for paupers' burials. By 1914 the department was burying around 450 people a year.
