A rainy day in the 1920s at Govan Cross, at the junction of Morrison Street (to the left - now Burleigh Street) and Govan Road.
The Cross appears very quiet to modern eyes and hardly in need of a police officer to direct traffic. No doubt local shipyard workers had yet to finish their shifts for the day!
Behind the traffic policeman is the Kinning Park Co-operative Society's Govan shop. The society was founded in 1871 and had a number of branches south of the river.
