A backcourt at either 74 or 80 Stevenson Street, Calton, early 20th century.
Clothes lines have been strung out across this backcourt to make the best use of all available space on a good sunny drying day. Two barefoot wee boys are playing at the top of the stairs, and a little girl peers anxiously at the photographer from behind a tree.
