Stained glass on display at the Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park.
Sir William Burrell collected more than 600 panels of stained glass in his lifetime. His collection is particularly strong in 15th and 16th century north European glass, but also includes significant works from earlier and later periods.
When designing the new building to house Sir William's collection the architects had to decide how best to display this superb stained glass collection. Bright direct light was needed to show the glass to its best advantage. The solution was to install the stained glass between timber mullions on the sunny southern side of the building.
