Oriental art on display at the Burrell Collection in Pollok Country Park.

Almost one quarter of the collection amassed by Sir William Burrell consists of Oriental art and antiquities. This includes Chinese ceramics, bronzes and jades, Near Eastern pottery, metalwork and carpets and Japanese prints.

Sir William had stipulated that the collection should be displayed in a new gallery in a rural setting. Building on this theme the architects wanted to give visitors the feeling of taking a "walk in the woods" at the park and decided that "by using glass for the wall an intimate connection would be provided between the woodland grove and the gallery spaces".
