Earth Gallery at GOMA

The entrance to the Earth Gallery at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Queen Street.

In 1996 work started to convert the Royal Exchange building to an art gallery. The building was divided into four main zones named after the elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The Earth Gallery is on the ground floor, in a spacious hall with fluted Corinthian columns and a superb barrel-vaulted ceiling. The style and elegance of the hall make it Glasgow's most admired surviving early 19th century interior.
