A painted clock face made by A & W Miller of Airdrie.
The top panel shows a scene from Queen Victoria's visit to Glasgow of 14 August 1849. The Queen, Prince Albert and their children Princess Alice and Prince Alfred travelled to Glasgow by steam yacht, landing at Windmillcroft and crossing over the Jamaica Street Bridge and under the triumphal arch (only the two side-arches are depicted here as the upper portion of the main arch has been omitted) at its northern end. After a brief tour of the Cathedral and an inspection of the newly-erected statue of the Duke of Wellington at the Royal Exchange, they left by train from Queen Street Station to travel north.
The scene depicts the Royal procession just after it crossed the Clyde at the foot of Jamaica Street. Around the clock face itself are images of young women representing spring, summer, autumn and winter.
