A mirror designed by Talwin Morris (1865-1911) and exhibited at the Turin International Exhibition of Decorative Art in 1902. It has a beaten metal frame set with coloured cabochon stones and decorated by a pair of peacocks in profile.

Born in Winchester and trained as an architect, Morris moved to Scotland in 1893 to become art manager at the Glasgow-based publishers Blackie & Son. Glasgow had a vibrant art scene at that time and Morris got to know artists such as Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frances Macdonald. It was through Morris that Mackintosh got the commission to design the Hillhouse at Helensburgh.

Morris quickly became known for his own work and the interior decoration in his house at Dunglass was featured in an issue of The Studio in 1897. He is particularly well known for his design of book covers.
