A pocket calendar for 1879 which advertises B Hyam's tailor's shop in Argyle Street.
Hyam advertised himself as a tailor, clothier, outfitter and hosier. He sold both "off-the-peg" and made-to-measure clothes in a wide range of styles and fabrics. It is possible that Mr Hyam was Jewish; certainly many Jews worked in the clothing trade at this time.
