Central Glasgow

An aerial view of Glasgow looking across the Clyde towards the city centre.

The Quay Leisure Complex is in the foreground, bottom left. Behind it the M8 motorway curves upwards and across the River Clyde on the Kingston Bridge. Beneath the bridge is moored the Tuxedo Princess, a favourite night spot in the 1980s. In the middle distance are King George V Bridge, Glasgow Bridge and the Central Station Bridge. The South Portland Street Footbridge can just be made out further upstream. The last bridge visible is Victoria Bridge.

The glass roof of the St Enoch Shopping Centre stands out clearly in the centre of the photograph, on the site of the old St Enoch Station a little to the east of the vast Glasgow Central Station.
