Mini railway 1901

The miniature railway at the International Exhibition, 1901.

One reason for holding the exhibition in Kelvingrove Park was to provide a showcase for British industry, with companies exhibiting products in the expectation of winning orders from all over the world. The Exhibition had a strong educational purpose, with the latest inventions, new technology and industrial products on show, plus work by modern artists and craftsmen. The organisers also made sure that there was lots of opportunity for fun. This miniature locomotive pulled a passenger train around the site and was obviously a big attraction!
