One of the difficulties of travelling by tram, from Tramway Car Sketches by J N, 1889.
This cartoon is one of a series illustrating the difficulties involved in travelling on the early Glasgow trams. The tram tracks were laid down the middle of the road with space on either side of the tracks for other vehicles to pass on the inside. This woman has got off the tram at her stop with three small children, but she is struggling to negotiate her way through heavy traffic to the safety of the pavement.
