A model of the famous paddle steamer Waverley. She was built by A & J Inglis of Pointhouse for the London & North Eastern Railways as a replacement for the ship of that name which was lost in action at Dunkirk during the Second World War.
The new Waverley was launched in 1947 and went into service on the Craigendorran to Arrochar route. She continued to work on the west coast of Scotland until the 1970s, when she was sold by her owners Caledonian MacBrayne to the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society. Now in fine working order, the Waverley is a familiar sight in Glasgow and along the River Clyde during the summer months, taking day trippers "doon the watter" once more.
This model is 1:32 scale and was built by an amateur modeller. It is in the Museum of Transport.
