Empress of Russia

A model of the Empress of Russia. The liner was built in 1913 by the Fairfield Shipbuilding & Engineering Co at Govan for Canadian Pacific Steamships, and it sailed on the Vancouver to China and Japan route. She was one of the first large vessels to have a "cruiser stern", and was reputedly swifter than any other vessel sailing the Pacific Ocean. Known as the "Mauretania of the Pacific" for the excellence of her design and the the luxury of her first class cabins, she was very popular with ocean travellers.

This model is now at the Museum of Transport.
