Union Street, 1914

Union Street in the rush hour, 1914.

This photograph is one of a series taken by Glasgow Corporation Tramways and looks north from Jamaica Street across Argyle Street towards Union Street. The Argyle Hotel is on the corner of Argyle and Union Streets, and an advertisement for Drooko umbrellas can be seen on the left of the photograph. The number of trams carrying passengers in the rush hour is impressive.
