Iron bridges

Iron bridges made by the Barrowfield Iron Works, from a catalogue published in 1890.

Barrowfield Iron Works was based in Bridgeton. It made a wide variety of iron products including gas, oil and chemical plants, roofing, buildings, girders, steam boilers, promenades, piers, loading wharves, oil tanks, bridges and much much more!

Most of the firm's products were exported, but included a 500 feet long railway viaduct designed to span the River Kelvin at Yorkhill (west of Stobcross).
