First motor pump

A full complement of firemen aboard a Merryweather motor pump c 1910.

This motor pump was one of three made by Merryweather of London for the Glasgow Fire Brigade. Described as "a splendid machine", it was capable of pumping 450 gallons of water a minute, and could reach speeds of up to 30 miles an hour in an emergency!
