Gregory Lecture Theatre

The Gregory Lecture Theatre on the ground floor of the University of Glasgow's Gilbert Scott Building, 1976.

Lecture theatres such as this one were designed to accommodate the maximum number of students to attend lectures with space for their notebooks. The steeply-tiered benches, arranged in a curved formation, and the large workbench and long blackboard at the front of the room, ensured that everyone in the class had a clear view of the lecturer's demonstrations and experiments.

This lecture hall was used primarily for geography and geology lectures. In the foreground is a platform for a slide projector, with the screen mounted on the wall above the blackboard.
