Laboratory 1A, Geology Department, on the ground floor of the University of Glasgow's Gilbert Scott Building, 1976.
Although by today's standards it looks somewhat bare, laboratories like this one represented high quality teaching facilities in the late 19th century. The room in this picture has long wooden workbenches with a blackboard at the front of the room, allowing the professor to carry out demonstrations in full view of the entire class.
