Advertisement in Glasgow University Magazine 14 December 1898 for Rudge-Whitworth, bicycle and motor cycle manufacturers. The firm was founded in Coventry in 1894 by the merger of two bicycle manufacturers, the Rudge Cycle Co (formed by Dan Rudge in 1868) and the Whitworth Cycle Co. Rudge-Whitworth produced high quality and innovative bicycles and motor cycles, which became very popular even (it was claimed) with King George V and his family.

Note that the firm had a "riding school" where customers could receive instruction in how to ride a bicycle, and that the advert is targeted primarily at young women.
