Alexander Dickson (1836-1887) was Regius Professor of Botany at the University of Glasgow, 1868-1879.
Dickson graduated in medicine at the University of Edinburgh and became Professor of Botany at the University of Dublin before being appointed to the Glasgow chair. He left Glasgow in 1879 to become Professor of Botany at the University of Edinburgh and become Regius Keeper of the Royal Botanic Garden in the capital.
