John Veitch (1829-1894) was Professor of Logic and Rhetoric at the University of Glasgow, 1864-1894.
Veitch was a pupil and protégé of the metaphysician Sir William Hamilton ((1788-1856) and was his assistant at the University of Edinburgh. He became Professor of Logic at St Andrews in 1860, moving to the Glasgow chair four years later. Veitch published works of biography and poetry as well as philosophy.
