This publicity photograph of Jimmy Logan was taken when he introduced his innovative mobile booking office for Jimmy Logan's Metropole Theatre - a radio-controlled Commer van.
Logan bought the Metropole Theatre in St George's Road in 1964. His ambition was to establish a home for Scottish variety and comedy and he was eager to attract audiences from the outskirts of Glasgow. In the days before credit cards, internet and ticketlink bookings, he sought to reach his prospective audiences by taking his booking office (the first of its kind in Scotland) into their communities.
