Coloured cartoon from the Northern Looking Glass 17 September 1825 entitled "A Fact" and containing an early version of an "Irish" joke.
The sign above the railings warns "Any person going over the railing of the square will be prosecuted...". An Irishman has taken the notice literally, and is entering the square by crawling under the railings.
