A famous coloured cartoon from the Glasgow Looking Glass 23 July 1825 of the view from the roof of the Justiciary Courts at the foot of the Saltmarket, looking north-east towards St Andrew's-by-the-Green Episcopal church and the St Andrew's Parish Church steeple. The foreground depicts large crowds visiting the colourful stalls and stages erected on the edge of Glasgow Green during the Glasgow Fair.
The attractions include a circus, a theatre and a number of "penny geggies" where customers could watch the performances of touring actors and entertainers for a small entrance fee. There are stalls selling food and drink all along the Saltmarket.
