Linn Crematorium, photographed in 2004. The surrounding woodlands and well-kept gardens contribute towards an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity in the area.
Opened in 1962, Linn Crematorium is one of two managed by Glasgow City Council (the other being Daldowie Crematorium). The Council also maintains appropriate registers. The crematoria can be used by people of all beliefs and their use is not restricted to Glasgow residents - many people from surrounding areas have been cremated there.
A Book of Remembrance has always been maintained at Linn Crematorium, with a full page dedicated to each day of the year. The pages are turned so that the Book is always open at the appropriate page. A Digital Book of Remembrance was introduced in 2003 to augment the service. This allows up to four additional screens of text and/or photographs to be included, with access available via the World Wide Web.
