Buchanan Bus Station

Buchanan Bus Station, photographed in 2003. In the foreground are two Scottish Citylink coaches.

The bus station is situated between the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Glasgow Caledonian University. Its name comes from Buchanan Street railway station, which occupied the site prior to its closure in 1966 (when Buchanan Street extended further north than it does in the 21st century). It provides local services around Glasgow as well as to nearby communities, and inter-city services in Scotland and the UK. Since the closure of Anderston Bus Station in 1993 it has been Glasgow's only major bus station, and it underwent an extensive modernisation programme in 1995 to provide facilities and services befitting its new status.

Scottish Citylink is the largest carrier in Scotland between cities and towns, with over 400 services per day to over 200 towns and cities across Scotland.
