Bridgend Road

New three-storey tenement flats built by Glasgow Corporation Housing Department at Bridgend Road, Pollok, photographed in 1949. The balcony fronts have brick facings with concrete trimmings. Dorset Pea roughcast covers the walls.

The Pollok South (ie: south of Barrhead Road) scheme consisted of two sections, one of four-apartment cottages and four-in-a-block flatted types and the other of three- and four-apartment three-storey flats. The first section of ninety-four houses was completed in 1948, with the remainder ready for occupation in the following year.

Bridgend Road was a short road connecting Barrhead Road with Cowglen Road. It was demolished in the 1970s to make way for the new Pollok Centre.
