Ryder Cup stars Bernard Gallacher and Tommy Horton coaching amateur golfers on the first tee at Littlehill Golf Club in Colston. The photograph appeared in the July/August 1983 issue of the Glasgow City Council newspaper The Bulletin.

The two professionals had gone straight to the course after playing in the Glasgow Classic tournament at Haggs Castle Golf Club. They demonstrated both good and bad shots, and explained to the audience the reasons for common faults.

The Glasgow Classic was the first professional golf tournament to be held in the city for twenty-six years. Seventeen of the top twenty money earners on the PGA European Tour were attracted to the event, which was won by Bernhard Langer. The tournament was staged with the help of Glasgow Sports Promotion Council. It was held again at Haggs Castle in 1984 and 1985, before the sponsors moved it to Gleneagles in 1986 and renamed it the Scottish Open Championship.
