Darnley councillor Alan Duncan (left) with Lord Provost Susan Baird, Pollok MP James Dunnachie and local children at the opening of Kennishead Tenants' Hall. The picture appeared in the October 1991 issue of Glasgow City Council's newspaper The Bulletin.
The event marked the culmination of eight years' hard work by Kennishead Tenant Management Co-operative's twenty-member committee and the local community to provide recreational, sporting and social activities under one roof. Funding for the £260,000 building came from Glasgow City Council and Urban Aid. It was designed by the Council's architects. The co-op, which was established in 1984, was the first in Glasgow to take over the management of multi-storey blocks.
Serving the areas of Arden, Carnwadric and Kennishead, Kennishead Tenants' Hall provides a wide range of facilities, including Mother and Toddlers Club; Irish, line, modern & tap dancing; Bingo; children's discos and Arden and Carnwadric football teams.
