Alexander Graham

A Thomas Annan photograph of a portrait of Alexander Graham (1791-1860). The painting was by Thomas Duncan (1807-1845).

Graham was a partner in William Graham & Co, the cotton manufacturer which built the Lancefield Spinning Mills. Alexander, one of four sons of the founder, became a prominent Liberal politician and campaigned against the Corn Laws.

The original painting was shown in an exhibition of notable Glasgow figures at the McLellan Galleries in 1868.
