Looking north-west to the the entrance of a derelict Prince’s Dock in Govan and across the River Clyde in the 1970s. The dock had closed in the early 1970s and is full of floating debris.
In the left foreground are two cranes which would have loaded and unloaded ships' cargoes. Behind them (far left) are some of Govan’s tenement buildings.
To the centre distance, almost obscured by smog, is the black and white block of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill. It was completed in 1971 to replace an older building which had been deemed unsafe. The entrance to Queen's Dock (in-filled in 1977) and the distinctive clock tower of the hydraulic pumphouse are on the right.
