Two Sober Wives

"Two Sober Wives Pulling Out The Pin", a song preserved in a scrapbook entitled Old Glasgow Street Songs etc, 1850 which is held at the Mitchell Library.

This song is about two women who "put in the pin" (stopped drinking alcohol). They have second thoughts when their husbands begin to spend more time in the pub to spend the money the reformed drinkers have saved, and when the duty on beer and porter is reduced. After much discussion, they resolve to "pull out the pin" and start drinking again in the local inn, or change house.
