"Oor Jock's Watch", a song preserved in a scrapbook entitled Old Glasgow Street Songs etc, 1850 which is held at the Mitchell Library.
This comic song is about Jock, who has served his apprenticeship and become a journeyman. To mark his symbolic step up from boyhood to manhood, Jock goes off to the Saltmarket with his first fortnight's wages and buys a new watch for the exhorbitant sum of 19 shillings (95p). Sadly for him, the watch proves to be less than reliable!
