"The Cooking Depot Girls", a song sung by James Anderson that is preserved in a scrapbook entitled Old Glasgow Street Songs etc, 1850 which is held at the Mitchell Library.
The song was published in 1866 and describes the singer's attempts to woo a young woman from the "Cooking Depot". Romantic walks in the South Side (or Queen's) Park come to nought - the waitress takes up with a pawnbroker instead.
