Garrioch Public School

A cookery lesson at Garrioch Public School in Wyndford, 1916.

The classroom contains conventional desks (left foreground) as well as three sinks, a fireplace and two cupboards of crockery. The girls are all wearing clean aprons and appear to be preparing some kind of pastry, as a few of them hold rolling pins at the ready. Their teacher is standing at the front of the group ready to demonstrate the recipe. The headmaster looks on from the left.

The boiler in the top right corner of the room supplied hot water heated by the fire.
