An art lesson at Kennyhill Special School in 1916. It is not clear whether the girl in the centre of the image is playing on the rocking horse or is posing for the other childrens' paintings.
The limits placed on class sizes in special schools were much smaller than those for ordinary primaries and secondaries. This relatively small classroom in the former Kennyhill House contains a fireplace and is decorated with floral wallpaper, suggesting that it may previously have been a parlour or sewing room.
